About
Gemini 4 Argon Cyber Permissive, which reached Google's model lifecycle table on October 13, 2026, was the build of Gemini 4 Argon that Google had promised its Fairwind Program at launch: the same frontier model with its cyber guardrails relaxed, aimed at vulnerability discovery, reverse engineering, exploit verification and patch generation. Where Argon itself became publicly available on the Gemini API, the permissive build shipped generally available but behind an allowlist, reached by applying through Fairwind or through a Google account team, and usable inside the CodeMender agent. Google classed it as a Gemini Frontier Cyber Model under its own section of the service terms, with separate abuse-monitoring rules.
It was the first time Google gave a frontier Gemini, rather than a Flash model, a security-specialised sibling, after Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber in July and Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber in September. Google drew the differences narrowly: it defaulted to high thinking rather than Argon's medium, dropped computer use, and served only from the global and US regions. Access did not carry over from Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber — a defender cleared for the Flash variant had to apply again. Google published no benchmark figures for it separately from Argon, so it keeps its own page here without a place in comparisons.
